A stroll around Canons this morning was fairly uneventful, save for a flock of 18
Skylarks, a
Mistle Thrush, two
Meadow Pipits and a modest mixed flock of
Redwings and
Fieldfares.
In the afternoon I joined Kojak in the hide at Beddington, picking out two
Caspian Gulls (a first-winter and a second-winter) and a first-winter
Yellow-legged Gull. Roy W later turned up for another go at the
Twite and, thank goodness, we located it with the 60-strong
Linnet flock, albeit briefly. Seven
Snipe and 52
Lapwings were present, along with three
Shelducks, three
Egyptian Geese, 45
Shovelers and four
Pochards. Other bits included a good count of 52
Lapwings, a
Chiffchaff, two
Reed Buntings and a
Cetti's Warbler.
